Filmed at the Palace of Versailles, the film "Farewell to Marie Antoinette" is released, starring Prada perfume commercial star Lea Seydoux

Dec 17, 2012

The film "Goodbye, Marie Antoinette" has been showing at Bunkamura Le Cinema and other venues since the 15th. The heroine is Sydney, a court reader who is enamored of Queen Marie Antoinette.
On July 14, 1789, when Marie Antoinette spots her own name and that of her beloved Madame de Polignac on the list of actresses sent to Versailles for the guillotine, she commands Sydney, who pledges her unwavering loyalty, to "take Madame de Polignac's place." Director Benoît Jacquot, a leading figure in French cinema, takes an unprecedented and bold look into Marie Antoinette's private life, depicting a dangerous love triangle between two women.
The role of the reader, Sydney, is played by young actress Léa Seydoux, who also appeared in a Prada perfume commercial. Her casting evokes a sensuality that is still in its infancy as an actress, but is just beginning to blossom. German-born actress Diane Kruger was cast in the role of Marie Antoinette, who was treated as a "foreigner" in France at the time.

The filming for this movie took place inside the real Palace of Versailles, including areas that are normally off-limits to the public. Places that appear in the movie include the Hall of Mirrors, the Hercules Hall, and the Petit Trianon. Furthermore, for things that couldn't be filmed at the Palace of Versailles, the staff used their imaginations and references to recreate them in a castle that remains from the 17th century near Paris. Not only the Rococo costumes, but the art in the movie is also a must-see.
