The film "Diana Vreeland: Legendary Fashionista" opens in theaters on the 22nd. Directed by Lisa Immordino Vreeland, who is married to Diana's grandson. Based on interviews in the crimson-decorated living room that Diana called her "Hell Garden," the documentary blends personal documents and archive footage from the Vreeland family with interviews with celebrities and other people involved in the fashion industry to create a multilayered portrait of Diana. Born in Paris, Diana Vreeland (1903-1989) used her exceptional aesthetic sense and creativity to become the charismatic editor of Harper's Bazaar for 25 years. In 1962, she moved to rival magazine Vogue, where she became editor-in-chief. She launched numerous talents, including Twiggy, Richard Avedon, and Manolo Blahnik, and it was she who made the miniskirt and bikini popular worldwide. Even after becoming an advisor to the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art at the age of 70, she continued to shock the world by organizing the first exhibition of a living designer, Yves Saint Laurent.
