TeamLab exhibits "Pyramid of Light" at Sunpu Castle, inspired by Tokugawa Ieyasu

Sep 3, 2015

teamLab will be exhibiting the interactive installation "Ieyasu and teamLab: The Sunpu Castle Ruins at Night and the Floating Tower of Light" at the Sunpu Tenka Taihei Festival, which will be held from September 18th to September 27th in the park of Sunpu Castle in Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

Tokugawa Ieyasu loved the land of Sunpu and built Sunpu Castle with Mount Fuji as his final residence. This time, teamLab will be exhibiting a pyramid-shaped interactive installation, "Ieyasu and teamLab: The Sunpu Castle Ruins at Night and the Floating Tower of Light," at the ruins of Sunpu Castle's tower. The installation is made up of 108 floating spheres of light, each two meters in diameter, which resemble the castle tower of Sunpu Castle, which is said to have shone brightly, and Mount Fuji.

During the event, this pyramid of light will host a light and music show based on the life of Tokugawa Ieyasu. The floating spheres are designed so that when people hit them, they change color and emit a sound; when one sphere changes color, the surrounding spheres respond by changing to the same color, causing the entire pyramid to change color.
