Cinema Museum - Autumn Special Screenings - is a collaborative project between the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF&ASIA), Asia's largest international short film festival accredited by the Academy Awards, and the 28th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF). It will be held at the Andaz Studio on the 51st floor of Andaz Tokyo from October 13th to 16th, and at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum from October 14th to 18th.
This annual event aims to spread the appeal of short films and nurture young filmmakers. This year, a total of six films will be screened for free, including "Your Thing," an Iranian work that won the Grand Prix at SSFF&ASIA 2015.
In celebration of "Autumn of Art," a select art-themed program will also be held. The lineup includes works based on Andre the Giant, a gigantic Leicester man active in France; "Obey the Giant," based on the true story of artist Shepard Fairey, known for his graphic art in the 2008 presidential election that produced the first black president in American history; "All About John Baldessari," in which conceptual artist John Baldessari talks about his life and art; "Kiki of Montparnasse," which depicts the life of Alice Prin, a famous "muse of avant-garde art" in the early 20th century; and "Hokusai - Sketchbook," an animated film by a British director inspired by the sketchbooks of Katsushika Hokusai, whose influence continues to this day on artists around the world.
