This year, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the publication of Moomin by Finnish author Tove Jansson, the "MOOMIN! Moomin Story" event will be held from September 17th to 23rd at the Event Square on the 8th floor of Matsuya Ginza. The venue will host a special exhibition titled "MOOMIN MUG STORY," a rendition of the "Moomin Mug" exhibition held at the Arabia Factory gallery in Finland in 2014. This will be the first time that all 73 Moomin mugs created from 1990 to the present will be exhibited in Japan. The merchandise corner will feature exclusive items for the event, including cookie tins, masking tape, pouches, and other items featuring Moomin mug designs printed for the first time, as well as the latest items such as the "Arabia Moomin Plate 2015 Edition." Arabia's limited-edition winter mug, the "Moomin Winter 2015 Mug," will also be available for pre-sale. In addition, customers who spend over 3,000 yen (tax included) on Moomin goods will receive a free badge of the day with a design exclusive to the event (limited to the first 1,000 people, one per person).
A corner commemorating the 70th anniversary of the publication of "Moomin" will feature a special Moomin book. There will also be a project where the picture book "And Then What?" will be enlarged and displayed on an 1,800mm-high panel, allowing visitors to experience the world of Moomin picture books.
In addition, a drink stand called "Moomin Stand" will be set up exclusively during the event, selling souvenir puddings with take-home cups and limited-edition drinks. A talk show featuring Tove Slotte, who designs mugs and other items, will be held on the 9th floor of Ginza Jujiya Hall from 3:00 PM on September 17th.
