MUNGO & MAUD, a brand offering luxury items for beloved dogs and cats, will open a corner at Isetan Shinjuku on December 27th.
MUNGO & MAUD is a brand created by Michael Thacker, a member of the founding family of Marks & Spencer, a British retailer that sells everything from apparel to food. Popular for its calm color schemes and creative focus on natural materials, the brand is well-known in its home country as a luxury lifestyle brand targeting dogs and cats. Past collaborations with Miller Harris perfumer Lynn Harris, fashion designer Yasmin Le Bon, and Paige Denim have also generated significant buzz. During Paris Fashion Week in 2012, the brand opened a pop-up space at the select shop Merci, garnering significant attention from the industry.
The main items sold include leads (from 13,000 yen), collars (from 11,000 yen), and clothing (from 19,000 yen). Other items available include beds, food bowls, ping-pong balls, and bird-shaped toys, allowing you to coordinate your life with your beloved dog or cat.
In preparation for a full-scale entry into the Japanese market, Mango & Mode has signed a contract with Special Product Design, the company behind exhibitions such as Helmut Newton by Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market Isetan. It will be interesting to see how the brand develops domestically in the future.
