Isetan Mitsukoshi will be hosting a food event where you can enjoy the "Lo-Carb" diet, which is currently gaining a lot of attention in the food industry. "Lo-Carb" is a nickname for a diet that limits carbohydrate intake. It's a buzzword that's been gaining attention recently, especially among those who are interested in beauty and health. Dr. Satoru Yamada, medical doctor and representative director of the Food, Fun, and Health Association, was one of the earliest advocates of Lo-Carb. According to him, Lo-Carb not only offers a new approach to maintaining health, but it's also garnering attention for its "easy-to-follow" approach. The advantage of strictly controlling carbohydrate intake is that you can enjoy fried foods and meat in moderation without worrying about other foods, while also feeling less stressed by dietary restrictions. So, how much carbohydrate should you limit your intake? According to Satoru, the general guideline is between 20g and 40g per meal. 20g is roughly half a serving of rice or half a slice of toast. While it may feel a little unsatisfying at first, as Mr. Yamada says, "It's okay to do as much as you can at first," the important thing is to continue enjoying it. The ideal outcome is to learn about the concept of low-carb and lead a delicious, enjoyable, and healthy diet.
Two food events will help you achieve this. First, a low-carb experience seminar will be held on September 20th at Sesto Senso on the 11th floor of Ginza Mitsukoshi. In addition to a lecture on low-carb diets by advocate Satoru Yamada, you can enjoy a course meal with carbohydrates kept below 40g per meal. Participation costs ¥5,400 per person. It's fascinating that even a menu from a pasta and antipasto restaurant can keep carbohydrates below 40g.
Furthermore, on October 11th, a low-carb experience seminar will be held at Le Salon Jacques Borie, a restaurant on the 4th floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku. This seminar costs ¥12,000 per person (10% service charge and drinks not included). The key point is that you can fully experience "delicious health" while enjoying a full course meal prepared by Chef Otsuka Kosuke.
In addition, from September 16th to 22nd, "Pâtisserie La No Boutique", which will be opening a limited-time store at "Café et Sucre/Ma Pâtisserie" on the first basement floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku, will be selling the low-carb sweet "Wheat Bran Roll" (454 yen) supervised by Yamada Satoru. Using wheat bran flour in the dough, this item is not only low in sugar but also has a great texture and aroma, and is sure to become addictive once you try it.
In addition, Lolioli 365 by Anniversary's "Iyashi Chiffon Plain" (Lemon/648 yen), which replaces part of the sugar with alternative sweeteners and wheat flour with powdered wheat protein (gluten flour), and Shiseido Parlour's "Tiramisu" (562 yen), made using low-sugar flour and alternative sweeteners, will also be available from September 16th to September 29th. If you're concerned about your health and beauty, why not check them out?
