On April 14, 2022, Moncler unveiled a campaign film for the brand's first-ever fragrance collections, "Moncler Pour Femme" and "Moncler Pour Homme." Directed by Terence Neale and starring American actor Karl Glusman and Chinese model Mao Xiaoxing, the cinematic short film depicts a group of people on a mythical quest to discover the Moncler fragrance bottle, guided by a winged spirit as they search for a mysterious door.

■Story
Explorers journey across snowy mountains into an ice cavern adorned with sparkling stalactites. As they emerge from the cavern, the silvery, ethereal Oracle, symbolized by a majestic snow eagle, catches their eye at a monolithic, frozen pillar.

  Karl Glusman

Karl Glusman leads the way, reaching out to the crystal's surface, unleashing the immense power of the mountain in his palm. His bold gesture liberates us through time and space, ushering us into a true moment of "creation" as a flask-shaped fragrance bottle emerges from beneath the ice. "All my senses were engaged. The dramatic, otherworldly landscape I encountered was incredibly beautiful, and the sound of the wind crashing against the snow and rocks on the glacier moved me," says Karl Glusman. "This is truly a magical place. The ice cliffs are as clear as glass, and you can see amazing fossils and bubbles in the ice," he continues.

  Mao Xiaoxing

As the ice melts, the fragrance bottle is revealed, its ribbed silver case and cap reflecting Moncler's mountain origins and the practicality derived from the iconic quilting of its down jackets. As the mirror-finish "borracha" flask sparkles in the bright sunlight, Mao Xiaoxing discovers a landscape carved out of the bottle's valley. Abundance emanates from the winter landscape, transforming it into a mirror-like jeweled meadow stretching into the distance in the larger-scale bottles. "It was a journey into the unknown. Humans are fearless by nature, but we are also curious about the unknown and somehow always want to take on new challenges. Only by walking the icy cliffs can you truly appreciate the light in the darkness and the beauty in the danger," says Mao Xiaoxing.

Set around Ushuaia in Argentina's ancient archipelago of Tierra del Fuego (Land of Fire), this shoot explores the unrestrained beauty of Mother Nature and the contradiction between modern technology. The mountain-dominated landscape showcases the region's extreme and poetic contrasts of color and texture: the dazzling white snow and the rich, dark textures of the soil and tundra. "On the glacier, I felt alive again. To experience this, you sometimes need to step out of your comfort zone," says Karl Glusman.

The realistic execution of Moncler's first fragrance campaign is unprecedented in the worlds of fragrance and luxury. It utilizes some of the most inaccessible and raw landscapes on Earth, combined with cutting-edge CGI technology to create a surreal hybrid experience.

The film's director, Terence Neale, imaginatively questions the limits of human perception, tapping into collective consciousness, bestowing talismanic qualities on the bottle and evoking our relationship with fragrance through sensory metaphors and gestures. In the short film, Karl Glusman, Mao Xiaoxing, and their fellow adventurers embark on a breathtaking subpolar landscape dressed in Moncler's weatherproof silver apparel, reflecting their surroundings and embodying the duality of the warmth and freshness of the alpine notes that define the two fragrances.
