"Kuragerium," a jellyfish-themed pop-up shop directed by Kumiko Iijima, a stylist who works with artists like Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, has opened for a limited time in the TOKYO Kaihoku area on the second floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku. It will be open until the 31st.
The shop stocks clothing and miscellaneous goods inspired by the shimmering, colors, and transparency of jellyfish. "NICE DICAPRIO" offers pastel-toned clothing, including sukajan jackets and pants decorated with jellyfish motifs and frills. The silhouettes and colors are also reminiscent of jellyfish. "acco" produces jellyfish-shaped neck warmers (25,900 yen), key chains (5,500 yen), and pens (2,200 yen). Ornaments by "edenworks" dangle from the shop's ceiling. These items are a take on the "swag" wall decorations typically used in Europe for Christmas and New Year's, adding a jellyfish-like element. "YUKI FUJISAWA," a brand that hand-dyes and prints fabrics, offers knitwear and skirts dyed in colors reminiscent of jellyfish. Many of the knitwear features foil prints, evoking the sparkle of jellyfish swaying in the ocean. The store's buyer said, "We wanted to capture the charm of jellyfish, a popular aquarium item, through a theme of otaku and fashion, so we've been working with Iijima on this project since spring."
On December 27th, a talk event will be held with Kumiko Iijima and Sho Sudo, the designer of Nice DiCaprio (priority given to those who purchase the product, starting at 2pm)
