It was announced on December 7th that Hannah Jinkins was the winner of the H&M Design Award 2016.
The award, which began in 2012, is open to students and graduates of the most prestigious design schools in 16 countries around the world. This year, 24-year-old Hannah Jinkins, a graduate of London's Royal College of Art, was selected as the winner from among eight finalists selected from 40 design schools by a renowned judging panel that included Kate Bosworth, Olivier Rousteing, and Nick Knight.
Hanah Jinkins created a collection that struck a difficult balance between raw denim and silk inner lining materials, proposing a new fashion style that makes the most of an oversized yet feminine silhouette.
As the grand prize, Hannah Jinkins received a one-year mentorship from H&M, a prize of 50,000 euros (approximately 6.5 million yen), and the opportunity to sell her winning design in H&M stores around the world and on the official online site in the fall of 2016. In Japan, it will only be available at limited stores.
