The winner of the H&M Design Award 2015 has been announced. Designer Simon Lee's collection was unveiled at Stockholm Fashion Week on January 27th. Lee is the first menswear designer to win the award. Originally from Hong Kong, the 24-year-old graduated from Parsons School of Design and now works in New York. The collection combines organic and synthetic elements, such as plastic and cardboard, exploring new forms for menswear through cuts and shapes. This fall, items based on the collection and developed in collaboration with H&M will be released. Ann-Sofie Johansson, head of design at H&M, who served as a judge, reflected on the award, saying, "Simon's collection captivated the judges with its contemporary yet poetic mood, its strong commitment to materials, and its incredible attention to detail." Fellow judge Luella Bartley, design director at MARC BY MARC JACOBS, praised the collection, saying, "He's a very accomplished designer. He has it all and is passionate about exploring. He has a great technique for developing materials and the designs were good."
