New flavors are coming one after another at the Wako Valentine's Fair, a festival of raw chocolate

Jan 27, 2015

Wako Annex Cake & Chocolate Shop in Tokyo's Ginza district has launched its Valentine's Day fair, running until February 14th. This year, they're offering two new Chocolat Frais (raw chocolate) treats. One of them, "Pale Praline" (5 pieces/1,800 yen), combines five different homemade pralines and ganaches in two layers. Two different flavors are encapsulated in a single chocolate: noisette and passion fruit, walnut and coffee, and sesame and matcha. Meanwhile, "Carré Fruits" (3 pieces/1,200 yen) combines three different fruit sauces with different flavored ganaches. Raspberry blends with the tart, bitter ganache, while pear blends with the spicy milk ganache, creating a refreshing, fruity sweetness that fills your mouth. In addition to these treats, a wide variety of Valentine's Day gifts will be available during the fair. Chocolat Frais offers "Specialite" (from 1,200 yen for 3 pieces), an assortment of heart-shaped chocolates with Valentine's Day-exclusive flavors, "Japanese Truffles" (from 1,800 yen for 5 pieces) made with yuzu and shochu, and "Coffret de Deguistación" (from 1,500 yen for 5 pieces), a selection of small chocolates. Other items include "Grand Cru" (from 1,800 yen for 5 pieces), which allows you to compare chocolates made with cocoa beans from five different regions, and the "Valentine's Day Limited Edition Gift Box Assortment" (from 10,000 yen), a three-tiered box packed with chocolates. From friends to loved ones, you'll find chocolates that perfectly match each person's taste preferences. The same items are also available at the brand's official store.
