Taiwan's most popular shaved ice has arrived in Japan for the first time. Rich flavor and melts in your mouth like snow.

ICE MONSTER, a popular Taiwanese shaved ice shop, will open its first store in Omotesando this spring. Ice Monster's shaved ice has garnered worldwide attention, including being selected as one of the "Best 10 Desserts" by North American television network CNN. Their most distinctive feature is their "flavored ice block," which condenses the flavors of fruit and coffee. The fine ice resembles layers of silk, and when you put it in your mouth, the rich flavor melts and spreads softly like snow. This unique texture has become a hot topic, with lines of over 2,500 people forming at the flagship store in Taiwan on busy days. The driving force behind this trend is Frank Lo, creator of the Taiwanese dessert "mango shaved ice." Many of their flavors are unimaginable in Japan, including unique varieties like "milk tea shaved ice with tapioca" and "coffee shaved ice" topped with coffee jelly. Going forward, they plan to offer limited-edition menus featuring seasonal fruits and flavors exclusive to Japan.
