On January 28th, Isetan Shinjuku opened a limited-time shop called "JAPAN ELEGANCE Cruise" in the East Park on the fourth floor of the main building. The shop will run until February 3rd. For the onboard night party scene, Tadashi Shoji, a dress brand beloved by celebrities both in Japan and abroad, creates dresses that flatter the female figure with cutting and materials. Based on the theme of "love spreading across the beautiful sea, born from the romance of fairy tales," the shop offers a selection of feminine new 15SS dresses featuring sheer, delicate tulle with embroidery and lace. Cocktail and evening dresses are available in a price range of 60,000 to 140,000 yen. Masaaki Takahashi offers jewelry to wear on board. The brand creates pieces using the traditional Japanese technique of "yosemono," which involves arranging small pieces one by one and fastening them with crystals to create a glowing effect. The "Tale of Genji" series, which depicts the opulent lifestyle of the Heian period in a modern setting, features a necklace (69,000 yen), earrings and pierced earrings (both 28,000 yen), and a bangle (43,000 yen).
"Takeyari" is a manufacturer in Okayama Prefecture founded in the Meiji period that utilizes canvas (pronounced "hanpu") sewing techniques. In addition to apparel and miscellaneous goods, the brand also produces industrial materials such as sails for sailing ships and tents. They offer items that take advantage of the characteristics of thick, durable canvas, such as tote bags (20,000 yen) and pouches (6,000 yen), which are suitable for casual occasions such as port visits and strolls on board.
"Isehan Honten" is a long-established "beni" (red beni) manufacturer that has been in business since the Edo period. The store sells iridescent Komachibeni (a lipstick trademark from the Edo period), crafted using traditional methods unchanged since the store's founding. This vibrant crimson, a time-honored Japanese color, is suitable for special occasions, not just onboard parties. It may be a good opportunity to talk about "Japanese beauty" with foreign passengers. The store also introduces items convenient for long cruise journeys. Kai nail clippers (priced from 1,200 to 10,000 yen), made in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, known for its blades, and Oh My Glasses sunglasses (priced from 23,000 yen), manufactured in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, renowned for its highly acclaimed eyeglass frames and manufacturing techniques. The store's buyer commented, "On overseas cruises, where there is a lot of interaction with foreign passengers, we hope to introduce the delicate and elegant craftsmanship of Japanese artisans and the "Japanese charm" that can only be rediscovered once you leave Japan, through Japanese brands."
