Pijama, a Milan-based gadget case brand, has been releasing new spring/summer items using unique and humorous fabrics since February, including smartphone cases with African-inspired patterns and insect-covered prints. The new textiles include "wax," with its resist-dyed pattern evocative of Africa; "towel," inspired by traditional Italian bath towels with vibrant colors; "poster," with a digital print of insects from old schoolbooks; "shirt," with a refreshing look made from Italian shirting fabric; and "camou," with a colorful camouflage pattern. The lineup includes 11 collections and 30 different items, including tablet and smartphone cases, duffel bags, zippered pouches, slippers, and even sleeping masks. Prices range from 3,150 yen for poster iPhone 4/5/iPod cases to 3,990 yen for wax iPad cases.
Pijama is a fabric brand founded in 2006 by former fashion designer Monica Battistella and architect Sergio Gobbi. The brand name, which means "pajamas" in Japanese, embodies the idea that "even digital gadgets should wear pajamas when they go to sleep."
From design to production, everything is 100% made in Italy, with each piece individually finished by a seamstress in the suburbs of Milan. One feature is the combination of neoprene, a highly impact-resistant material, and textiles. The designs can be coordinated with a variety of styles, from digitally printed cotton and Italian shirting fabric to tartan wool and denim.
