ITOCHU Corporation has acquired exclusive import and sales rights for the Italian designer brand "Mauro Grifoni" and its casual line "M.GRIFONI" in the Japanese market. Sales will begin this year with the main fall/winter collection through its subsidiary, Coronet.
The main target in the Japanese market is women in their 30s who have their own fashion sense and adult men who prefer a classic style with a touch of modernity. The brand will begin distribution primarily at select shops, and will strengthen its presence in department store import floors and partnerships with leading specialty stores, aiming for retail sales of 1.5 billion yen within four years.
The price range for Mauro Grifoni women's coats is between 90,000 and 150,000 yen, jackets between 70,000 and 90,000 yen, tops between 20,000 and 30,000 yen, dresses between 50,000 and 70,000 yen, and skirts and pants between 20,000 and 30,000 yen. For men, prices range from ¥80,000 to ¥150,000, with coats from ¥80,000 to ¥120,000, jackets from ¥80,000 to ¥120,000, suits from ¥90,000 to ¥160,000, sweaters from ¥30,000 to ¥80,000, shirts from ¥20,000 to ¥40,000, and pants from ¥30,000 to ¥50,000. Mauro Grifoni was founded in 1992 as a small shirt factory by then-textile designer Mauro Grifoni and brand co-founder Ilaria Sesso, who began producing highly refined, handcrafted clothing known as "artigianato." The brand launched its women's collection in 1997, its M. Grifoni collection in 2001, and its accessories collection in 2002. Starting with a flagship store in Verona, Italy, the brand opened stores in Padua, Brescia, and elsewhere, and in 2009 opened a flagship store in Milan, including a showroom designed by Grifoni. The brand currently operates worldwide, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, and France.
