Now in its fourth season, adidas Originals and Opening Ceremony have teamed up for the Spring/Summer 2014 collection, showcasing two sports: baseball and taekwondo. The baseball-inspired "Baseball Range" focuses on shapes and textures. The lineup includes luxurious lambskin jerseys and shorts in red and blue college colors, pinstripe shirts and sweatshirts, a leather stadium jacket emblazoned with the Opening Ceremony logo, and a maxi dress crafted from mesh jersey fabric. Details inspired by baseball gloves, such as string-sewn fabric, are often used. A leather bag resembling an enlarged baseball is also featured, creating an overall American aesthetic. The Taekwondo-inspired "Taekwondo Range" features a reimagined uniform design in a subdued color palette of dove gray, pink, and light yellow. The collection includes shirts, skirts, and dresses in black and white satin, as well as jumpsuits and stadium jackets with quilted belt details and skirts in crisp fabric. The dot pattern, inspired by taekwondo socks, appears on lightweight knitwear, cropped bustiers, jacquard paneled miniskirts, and backpacks. The adidas shoe collection reinterprets classic models. The "Stan Smith" features baseball glove stitching, while the "Gutsley" is reimagined as a soft slip-on. The "SML" size is redesigned with an embroidered taekwondo symbol and metallic details. Particularly striking are the patent leather high-heel sandals called "Baseball Heels" and the platform sandals, resembling a "pockkuri" (a pock-shaped platform) covered in a taekwondo-inspired dot pattern. The Baseball Range is currently on sale at Opening Ceremony Omotesando and Lumine Shinjuku. The Taekwondo Range will be available in mid-March. It will also be available at Adidas Originals stores and online from early March.
