At its fall/winter kids' fashion show held in New York in May, Ralph Lauren unveiled the "Ralph Lauren Children's Literacy Collection," commemorating the launch of its social contribution activities aimed at improving literacy rates among children around the world. The collection featured 12 literacy T-shirts featuring the brand's iconic polo pony and messages in 12 languages. In Japan, the collection will include the English and Japanese polo pony T-shirts mentioned above, as well as T-shirts featuring illustrations of girls (children's sizes 3,000-3,600 yen, men's sizes 6,600 yen, women's sizes 4,500 yen), children's tote bags (3,600 yen), and journals (1,800 yen). The children's T-shirts and totes will be available on the e-commerce site from August 26th, and other items will be available at Ralph Lauren Omotesando and major department stores from September.
25% of sales until the end of December will be donated to the "School Library Genki Project," organized by the Print Culture Promotion Council and the National School Library Council. This project, which began in December 2011, supports the reconstruction of school libraries in the three prefectures of Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima, which were severely damaged in the Great East Japan Earthquake, and aims to revitalize the affected areas through education. The project's main activity is to donate new books through local bookstores in response to requests from schools, and it also hosts local forums to discuss library utilization and reading promotion.
