On July 2, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton Group (LVMH Group) opened the "LVMH Children's Art Maison" (2-2-15 Nakamura, Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture) in Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture, as part of its support for victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake and its reconstruction efforts. The facility aims to provide a base for children affected by the disaster, providing emotional support, academic improvement, emotional education, and artistic activities. Managed by Soma City, the facility offers emotional support activities through the Soma Follower Team NPO, as well as readings of picture books and other publications from the facility's collection. The two-story wooden building is donut-shaped and features a vegetable garden on the wall and a courtyard where children can experience nature. The opening ceremony on the 2nd was attended by architect Shigeru Ban, who designed the facility, and others. The Soma Children's Orchestra, a general incorporated association called El Sistema Japan, which launched a music program with the city's Board of Education, performed. Saka has been supporting reconstruction efforts around the world by using paper as a building material to build temporary facilities. Following the Great East Japan Earthquake, he built temporary housing and meeting halls in the town of Onagawa. The LVMH Group has also rebuilt the Tanohama Community Center in Yamada Town, Iwate Prefecture, and is supporting the reconstruction of Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture, through Louis Vuitton and the "Forests are Lovers of the Sea" movement. The construction of the LVMH Children's Art Maison marks the realization of support projects in the three Tohoku prefectures that were hit particularly hard by the disaster.
