American accessory brand ALEX AND ANI will open its first pop-up shop in Japan. Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Bussan has acquired exclusive domestic sales rights starting this season.
ALEX AND ANI was founded in 2004 by Carolyn Rafaelian, a designer at a small jewelry factory. Under the motto "MADE IN AMERICA WITH LOVE," the brand offers eco-conscious accessories made with recycled metals, vintage stones, and Swarovski crystals. Loved by celebrities such as Beyoncé, Jessica Simpson, and Miley Cyrus, the brand currently has 40 directly managed stores across the United States and over 2,000 department and specialty stores in 10 locations worldwide. The lineup includes bangles adorned with charms bearing symbols such as "TREE OF LIFE" and "LOTUS PEACE PETALS" (3,800 yen each), and bracelets made of vintage-style beads such as "NILE BEADED" and "JORDAN BEADED" (5,200 yen each). All of the symbol charms, which are said to bring "positive energy" such as good luck, love, courage, confidence, protection, and wisdom to the wearer, are hand-attached. The pop-up shop will be open at Sogo Yokohama until September 8th, and will also be open at Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store from September 10th to 21st and at Seibu Shibuya Store from September 23rd to 29th. If you spend over 15,000 yen at participating stores during the event, the first 30 customers will receive an original keychain.
