Neal's Yard Remedies, the organic skincare brand, will open a new Japanese restaurant, "BROWN RICE by NEAL'S YARD REMEDIES," on September 5th. The restaurant is located at 5-1-8 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. Hours are 11:30 AM to 11:00 PM (11:30 AM to 9:00 PM on Sundays). The restaurant offers a seasonal menu of Japanese cuisine, including a soup and three side dishes, and hassun (appetizers). The restaurant uses top-quality ingredients personally selected by the staff, including traditional Japanese fermented seasonings like miso, tofu, fresh vegetables, and brown rice. The restaurant also offers carefully selected tableware, including pottery by ceramist Masanobu Ando and lacquerware by lacquer artisan Keietsu Toki, to create a Japanese atmosphere. These tableware, each carefully crafted using traditional Japanese methods, develop a unique character over time and are select for long-lasting use, as they can be repaired or replaced.
The interior design of the store was handled by Shinichiro Ogata, head of SIMPLICITY, who also worked on the interiors of Aesop shops and Andaz Tokyo.
At the opening event on September 6th, nutritional consultant Erika Angyal will give a talk show. The talks will be held at 11am and 2pm, with a capacity of 40 people per session (reservations required).
