Swiss luxury watch brand Hublot has announced that former Brazilian soccer player Pele will serve as its ambassador for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.
Pelé (real name: Edson Arantes do Nascimento) is the only player to win three World Cups with the Brazilian national team: in 1958, 1962, and 1970. He has also won numerous other tournaments consecutively, earning him the nickname "The King of Football" and "The Greatest Footballer of the 20th Century."
After retiring from playing, he served as a United Nations and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for education and the environment. He also served as Minister of Sports in his native Brazil from 1995 to 1998. He continues to support the soccer world as a philanthropist.
Pelé is scheduled to visit Japan in March 2014 for a Hublot event.
