The world's first smartphone-linked electric bike will be available in Sogo & Seibu's lucky bag. First sales start on New Year's Day.

Dec 19, 2013

Following on from last year, Sogo & Seibu will be holding its New Year's sale starting on New Year's Day in 2014. The limited-edition lucky bags will include futuristic designs that are ahead of their time, designs themed around the Year of the Horse, and interactive items that the whole family can enjoy.

The highlight is the "Gold Futuristic Electric Bike Lucky Bag" (250,000 yen). Ahead of its release in spring 2014, the world's first smartphone-connected electric bike, the "A4000i," will be offered at a special price of 200,000 yen off the estimated general release price. Available in a limited edition gold color (only three in the world), it is more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly than a motorcycle. The handlebars can hold an iPhone, and the screen displays remaining battery life and speed, as well as allowing location and other driving data to be managed in the cloud. It can also access recommendation services such as navigation and local information.

Also on sale at the same time are the "Ferrari Holy Land and Italy World Heritage Travel Lucky Bag" (555,000 yen), which is related to the Year of the Horse, the "2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Tour Lucky Bag" (2,014,000 yen) which comes with tickets to a Japan match, and the "Lucky Bag where you can become a figure with a Lions player" (2,014 yen), which are related to the baseball team, and the "Lucky Bag where you can receive a Seibu Spirit Knock from Manager Ihara" (2,014 yen).

All purchases are by lottery, and applications can be made at the special lucky bag venues at Sogo and Seibu stores from January 1st to 3rd. Please note that Seibu Lions-related lucky bags will only be sold at seven limited stores, including Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store and Sogo Omiya Store.
