Shu Uemura will be redesigning its beauty stylist uniforms starting January 1, 2014. The uniforms are designed by Munenori Uegiri, designer of Uemuro Munenoli. The new uniforms feature pants in the brand's black and white colors. They will be worn by Shu Uemura beauty stylists worldwide, and come in 24 patterns for women and 8 for men. Uegiri's simple yet sophisticated designs echo the "simple and rich" philosophy of Shu Uemura founder Shu Uemura, leading to his selection. "Taking inspiration from Shu Uemura's product packaging, I aimed for a striking uniform that goes beyond the existing image of a uniform," commented Uegiri. "Also, given that this job involves close physical contact with customers, I wanted the clothes to look more beautiful the closer you are to them."
Munenori Uebiri is from Fukuoka Prefecture. He graduated at the top of his class from the IED Fashion Course and worked as an assistant at CoSTUME NATIONAL from 2002. He then designed the AW 2007 women's collection for 0044 Paris, and from 2007 he designed the women's collection for Jil Sander under Raf Simons. In SS12 he launched his own collection specializing in shirts. In the same year he won the Tokyo New Designer Fashion Grand Prize.
