L'Oréal Japan celebrates its 50th anniversary with the launch of two new brands: Shu Uemura Art of Hair and Roger & Gallet.

Jul 20, 2013

To commemorate its 50th anniversary, Nihon L'Oréal has launched two new brands, "ROGER & GARRET" and "Shu Uemura Art of Hair."

Roger & Gallet is a fragrance brand that uses natural ingredients and was founded in France in 1862. The decision to launch this brand was made in response to the high market demand for natural cosmetics in Japan. A total of 80 items, including fragrances, soaps, and body care products, are available, with prices ranging from 700 yen to 3,200 yen. The first store opened in Osaka's Lucua in February of this year, and the Sapporo Stellar Place store will open on the 24th of next month. The company plans to open 50 stores in major cities over the next five years. Shu Uemura Art of Hair offers a total of 37 products, including professional-grade shampoos, conditioners, hair treatments, and styling products, all formulated with Shu Uemura's signature oils and natural botanical ingredients. Prices range from 2,310 yen to 6,195 yen. These products cater to the growing interest in hair and scalp care, driving demand for higher-priced products. L'Oréal Japan began operations in 1963 and established a Japanese subsidiary in 1996. The company has had a research and development base in Japan for over 30 years, and currently operates the L'Oréal Research & Innovation Center in Kawasaki, playing a central role in research and development in Japan and Asia. In 1985, the company established its only Asian factory in Gotemba, manufacturing luxury products for Japan and Asia. The company carries 18 brands, including Lancome, Shu Uemura, Yves Saint Laurent, and Kiehl's.
