New JAL uniforms designed by Keita Maruyama unveiled

Dec 21, 2012

The new uniforms for the Japan Airlines (JAL) Group, which announced a complete redesign in September, have been unveiled. Employees from each JAL department formed a "New Uniform Project Team" to create a clean, high-quality design based on the concept of the new JAL brand. The design blends seamlessly with aircraft and airport signs while still being instantly recognizable as a JAL Group employee. Designer Keita Maruyama oversaw the design and supervision for the cabin crew and ground service departments. The uniforms feature a noble navy blue base with striking accents of vibrant red. The cabin crew uniforms for all JAL Group airlines share the same crane and circle motif, but each airline's unique features are expressed through different-colored scarves. The uniforms for male cabin attendants maintain an elegant silhouette while also providing functionality that allows for ample movement. A gorgeous white jacket and cherry blossom-colored scarf are also available for ground staff serving in the lounge.

The flight crew uniforms will retain the traditional chic black color and traditional shape that convey a sense of "safety and reliability," but the functionality of the details, such as the materials and stitching, has been improved. The uniforms for maintenance staff and loading and cargo work staff will be gray with JAL red accents. The new uniforms are scheduled to be introduced in the first half of 2013.
