Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo in Omotesando, Tokyo, will host its ninth exhibition, "Traces of Disappearance," starting January 18th. Curated by Murielle Hladik and Eva Kraus, the exhibition explores the passage of time through the theme of ambivalence, the coexistence of opposing elements such as preservation and decay, and the desire for eternity and transience. Photographer Naoya Hatakeyama will exhibit photographs of Mont Ventoux in southern France, exploring the concept of the sublime through a landscape that is both idealized and invincible to the forces of the earth. Austrian artist Kasper Kovits' new work, "The Sheer Size of It," explores the theme of transience. This approximately 7-meter-diameter work is made from edible gummy bears, and the color of the material fades over time.
Inspired by the "cone of memory" proposed by philosopher Henri-Louis Bergson, French artists Anne and Patrick Poirier created a 7-meter-tall conical installation called "The Soul of the World." Through the pigeons and their flight, the work expresses the uncertainty and fragility of memory, its transition, and its preservation. Taiwanese artist Yuan Guangming presented a moving digital image work called "Disappearing Landscape - Reason to be a leaf." It questions whether an image can maintain its existence without essential characteristics.
