"Noism1" by Jo Kanamori, revival of "PLAY 2 PLAY". Costume by Yasuhiro Mihara

Jan 14, 2014

Noism1, Japan's only theater-resident dance company, will be reprising "PLAY 2 PLAY - Interfering Dimensions" at the Kanagawa Arts Theatre (KAAT) on January 24th and 25th. The company's artistic director, Jo Kanamori, will also be appearing for the first time in approximately two and a half years.

This work, which premiered in 2007, was created in collaboration with leading experts in dance, architecture, music, and fashion.

This time, the music and costumes have been revised and a new cast has been produced. Direction and choreography are by Jo Kanamori, space design by architect Tsuyoshi Tane, music by Vietnamese-French composer Tong Tha Anh, and costumes by Yasuhiro Mihara and Noriko Domoto.

The cast has also changed completely from the original premiere. Only Associate Artistic Director Sawako Iseki will be appearing for the second time, aiming for an entirely new stage production. This work was first performed at Ryutopia Niigata City Performing Arts Center in December 2013 and received positive reviews.
