While the large-scale Andy Warhol exhibition scheduled for August at the National Art Center, Tokyo is generating much buzz, DECADE, located on the second floor of Isetan Shinjuku, a department store showcasing fashion from the 1960s and 1970s, is also currently offering a "Pop Art" themed collection featuring items inspired by Edie Sedgwick, Warhol's muse and a fashion icon of the time. The collection runs until May 28th. The store is stocked with items that evoke the style of the time, including a lip-print dress by ERIN by Erin Fetherston, a lip-shaped bag by Lulu Guinness, shorts by Harvey Faircloth, and accessories by Cehik tok. Additionally, Daikanyama T-Site's bookshelf is stocked with a selection of books, including vintage pieces, on Edie, Warhol, and Pop Art. One of the highlights is the cultural magazine "Plexus," published in France at the time. It's being sold as a set, covering the first issue through to the final issue. This is said to be the only place in Japan where all 37 volumes are available. Priced at 252,000 yen, it's limited to one set.
Edie met Warhol through a friend in the 1960s. She subsequently appeared in films produced by Warhol and modeled for magazines like "Vogue" as a pop culture icon, becoming a beloved figure of the era. However, she died suddenly in 1971 at the age of 28. Her life is remembered as a symbol of the 1960s, and in 2006, a biographical film about her, "Factory Girl," starring Sienna Miller, was released.
