On October 2nd, a new commercial facility called "OOTEMORI" will open on the first and second basement floors of the newly constructed "Otemachi Tower" building (1-5-5 Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) in Otemachi, Tokyo. Prior to the opening, details were revealed to the press on September 30th.
The main target audience is "women working in Otemachi." This first phase of opening will feature 25 stores, mainly catering to restaurants, food retailers, and services. In addition to new businesses such as Seijo Ishii's new grocery store "EPICERIE BONHEUR Seijo Ishii," HUGE's new Spanish restaurant "La Pesquera -MARISQUERIA-," PRONTO ILBAR, the first Pronto store to feature contemporary art in its interior, and Hal Yamashita's new Japanese restaurant "HAL YAMASHITA Otemachi Lounge," the area is lined with curry shops, Thai restaurants, oyster bars, sandwich shops, bars, delis, and more. None of the stores are designed to accommodate large parties, but rather are intended for use by 2 to 4 people. Ogata Shinichiro of SIMPLICITY was in charge of the environmental design of the commercial zone. The entrance on the second basement floor connects directly to the passageway connecting the Tozai Line and Marunouchi Line, offering a 15-meter-high open space. From the first basement floor, you can see "Otemachi Forest," a 3,600-square-meter planting area outside the building on the first floor. Located on the extension of Marunouchi Nakadori Street, this forest is part of the street extension project, providing a lush, relaxing space in the heart of the business district. Harunaga Munetoshi of Tokyo Tatemono's Commercial Facilities Division, who oversaw the development, said, "Marunouchi was developed early, especially in areas like Nakadori Street, but Otemachi was still relatively undeveloped and had many old buildings. As a result, there are many stores catering to male office workers and few that cater to female office workers. We took this into consideration when leasing this property. We hope that women will use it for everyday use, such as for lunch or after work." The second phase, which will be completed, is scheduled to open in spring 2014. Opposite the passageway that connects the Tozai Line and Marunouchi Line, which the newly opened zone is directly connected to, are five stores selling fashion goods, cosmetics, cafes, etc. The glass walls allow natural light to enter.
