Yasuto Shiezumi presented their 2014 Spring/Summer collection at Tokyo Fashion Week. The theme was "Architectonic." Based on the idea that clothing is a structure centered on the human body, the collection was inspired by the functional and rational design and spatial composition created by straight lines seen in modernist architecture, as well as the architecture of Le Corbusier. Coincidentally, a Corbusier exhibition is currently being held at the National Museum of Western Art. The lines and curves of the collection's forms evoke the exterior of Le Corbusier's Chapel of Ronchamp, while the lattice cutwork, collaged square prints, and bright colors like yellow, blue, and pink, combined with monochrome tones, are reminiscent of the chapel's windows. The collection also expressed architectural elements through styling and designs that made use of different textures, such as the combination of a leather rider jacket and a soft dress, a two-tone, half-color-coated, low-gauge knit, and a structured top made of bonded jersey with raw edges.
The creations that start with a clear concept remain the same, but designer Esumi Yasutoshi says, "Starting this season, we have incorporated the opinions of the MDs and focused on creating designs that are trendy and easy for women to wear."
