To celebrate its 15th anniversary, the Vangi Sculpture Garden Museum, located within Clematis Hill in Shizuoka, will be hosting the "Tree of Life" exhibition from April 22nd to November 30th. There are many highlights to see, including new works by Roselne N'Dovico, the result of her first residency at a Japanese art museum; Ai Sasaki's sugar drawing of six trees on the museum's large window; and calligrapher Kasetsu's calligraphy performance on April 28th, which will be based on the theme of the exhibition. The works created during the performance will also be exhibited throughout the exhibition. Additionally, tree-themed works by a total of 15 artists will be on display, including Koji Tanada's "The Girl Who Became a Father, the Boy Who Became a Mother," Manabu Miyazaki's "Persimmon Tree," Takanobu Kobayashi's "Tree," and Leiko Ikemura's "Trees Sprouting from My Head."
Other upcoming events include a calligraphy workshop by Kasetsu on June 11th, a workshop by Suzuki Koji on August 27th, and a watercolor workshop by Mochizuka Miki in September. In addition, curators will hold gallery talks of approximately 40 minutes every Sunday.
