The outdoor film festival "Forest Film Festival: Night Sky Intersects" will be held all night on Sakushima Island in Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture, on October 7th. A spin-off event, "Forest Film Festival: Night Sky Intersects in Golden Week 2017," will also be held in Beruga, Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, from April 29th to May 6th during Golden Week.
The "Forest Film Festival: Night Sky Intersects in the Forest" is an event that utilizes the venue's unique setting to create a one-night-only fantasy. Approximately 50 feature films and short films will be screened on multiple special screens set up in a variety of locations, including forests, rivers, and rocky areas, offering a new style of film viewing. In addition to watching films, visitors can also pitch tents, enjoy meals at the food court, and customize their experience. This fourth annual event will be held on Sakushima Island, also known as the "Island of Art" for its art monuments scattered throughout the island. Each year, this film festival sets a new worldview and story, and has revised the various ways of expressing itself, including the stage names, pamphlet format, and film selection criteria. This year's theme is "Fizzing," which expresses "a fleeting, poignant world that appears and disappears like bubbles." The films screened coexist synergistically with the existing film industry, while also actively incorporating independent films to discover the next generation of talent. Meanwhile, "Forest Screenings Intersecting the Night Sky in Golden Week 2017," a spin-off project born from the above event, is an outdoor film event held over eight days at Hakushu Ojiro Forest Famous Water Park Beruga, featuring a set of one short, medium-length film, and one feature-length film.
