"Making Pictures," an exhibition by KIGI's Watanabe Yoshie, will be held at Creation Gallery G8 in Ginza, Tokyo from April 4th to May 20th.
The exhibition is being held to commemorate Watanabe's receipt of the Kamekura Yusaku Award, which is given annually to the creator of the most outstanding work from among those submitted to the yearbook Graphic Design in Japan, with the aim of contributing to the development of the graphic design world. The exhibition will also feature the award-winning work, "AUDREY," a Western-style confectionery packaging design, as well as other illustrations that Watanabe has worked on up to now. It is an opportunity to enjoy the world of Watanabe's delicate yet powerful paintings and designs, which she creates as if weaving a story.
Watanabe's winning work, "AUDREY," received high praise at the selection committee, with comments such as "Watanabe's works have shifted from previous expressions of the 'individuality' to designs that symbolize the times in recent years," and "The design, which makes use of the white space in the letters and margins, further brings out the worldview of his illustrations."
In addition, from April 12th to May 7th, an exhibition by Watanabe, "Watanabe Yoshie Original Art Exhibition," will be held at the OFS gallery in OUR FAVOURITE SHOP in Shirokane, Tokyo.
