The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel, an iconic property under the umbrella of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, which operates 26 ultra-luxury hotels, resorts, and residences in 15 countries around the world, has announced the completion of the property's three-year renovation. From new guest rooms and suites to the debut of the hotel's signature restaurant, Dowling's at The Carlyle, and the unveiling of a new spa by Valmont, the 91st-year property is unveiling a new look for the next generation of travelers.

"We are thrilled to finally debut our new guest rooms, with the highlight being our coveted suite in the tower overlooking Central Park. Naturally, the restoration of a beloved property like The Carlyle requires careful consideration, and we feel we have delivered the perfect modern aesthetic that honors the hotel's past while also leading it into the future. "Comment from Anthony McHale, Managing Director, The Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel:
Rooms and Suites by tonychi studioDesigned by the award-winning New York-based design firm tonychi studio, The Carlyle's revamped rooms and suites are inspired by the distinctive glamour and beauty of Manhattan's Upper East Side's pre-World War II era and the distinguished guests who have graced the hallowed halls of this renowned hotel residence for more than 90 years.
The new rooms' luxurious fixtures and furnishings, black lacquered paneling, Central Park-inspired wallpaper reminiscent of renowned designers Ludwig Bemelmans and Marcel Vert's, and a meticulous curation of artwork, books, and everyday objects all combine to create a truly residential experience.
Subtle Art Deco inspiration is also present, expressing a reverent tribute to The Carlyle's original designer, Dorothy Draper. William Paley, longtime creative director of tonychi studio, oversaw the renovation of 155 of the hotel's 189 rooms and suites. The remaining 34 rooms and suites are all completely uniquely designed, ranging from the Empire Suite by renowned designer Thierry Despont to a new suite by New York-based interior designer Dan Fink, and the newly inaugurated Presidential Suite.

This one-of-a-kind, residential-style suite features Venetian plaster throughout, three bedrooms, four and a half full bathrooms, a living room, a full kitchen, a media area, and a gallery entrance directly adjacent to the boarding area, complete with a piano—the perfect spot for entertaining or simply soaking up the breathtaking views.

Dowlings at the Carlisle
"Dowlings at the Experience a new era in dining at The Carlyle. The newest member of the Carlyle family is named after The Carlyle's former owner, Robert Whittle Dowling, an influential urban planner known for his passion for revitalizing New York City, the city that never sleeps.
After purchasing the hotel in 1944, he helped transform it into what it is today, establishing it as a fashionable destination attracting celebrities, politicians, royalty, and tastemakers. His vision for The Carlyle to embody a distinct "sense of place" has created a warm, intimate, and eclectic atmosphere for New Yorkers and visitors alike.
Newly appointed Executive Chef Sylvain Delpique (formerly Executive Chef at 21 Club) has designed a menu featuring interpretations of timeless New York favorites and resurrected dishes from other eras. Following an extensive renovation by tonychi studio, Dowlings at the Carlyle is now open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.
The stylish, intimate 80-seat dining room will exude the glamour and magic of the 1930s and 1940s, highlighted by historic artwork and five newly acquired Ludwig Bemelman paintings, paying homage to the adjacent bar, a beloved Upper East Side fixture for 75 years.

After the overwhelmingly positive response to our first capsule, we decided to do it again."Comment from Erik Torstensson, Co-Founder and Creative Director of FRAME
