Barbara Casasola has been selected as the special guest designer for the 13th Pitti W, a women's wear exhibition to be held in Florence from January 7th to 10th next year.
Lapo Chanchi, Communications and Events Director at Pitti Immagine, commented, "We were captivated by her collections over the past few seasons, which are clean, modern, sophisticated yet seductive. The fact that her collections are all produced in Italy was also one of the reasons we were interested in her."
Casasola was born in Brazil in 1984. She studied fashion at Central Saint Martins in London and graduated with honors from the Istituto Marangoni in Milan, where she was hired as an assistant designer at Roberto Cavalli in Florence. After working as an assistant to Gabrielle Greiss at See by Chloe and Lanvin, she founded her own brand in Sao Paulo in 2012. She was a finalist in the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize, which will be held this month, and was selected for Vogue Talents Corner, a young talent discovery project held in September last year. She was also a finalist in Who's on Next Vogue Italy, which was held at Pitti Uomo in June of the same year.
