Say "Merci" on Mother's Day! Original linen items available at Shinjuku Isetan

Apr 25, 2014

A limited-time shop called "merci MAMAN" by the popular Parisian select shop "merci" has opened on the third floor of The Stage #3 in the main building of the Isetan Shinjuku store. It will be open until April 29th.
Merci, which opened in the northern Marais district of France in 2009, offers a wide variety of items, from designer brand apparel to everyday goods. This time, in preparation for Mother's Day on May 11th and Golden Week, the shop will be offering original linen items.
The color variations have been expanded from last year's event, and the lineup includes high-quality linen items such as 15-color linen napkins (2,000 yen) and tote bags (7,500 yen), 12-color cushions (5,000 yen), and towels (hair towel 3,000 yen, body towel 6,000 yen). The most popular item is the plain apron (7,500 yen) available in eight colors. Gentle red colours like coral pink are particularly popular, and many people buy them as a set to coordinate with the colours of their kitchen items.

One of the characteristics of linen is that it becomes softer and more comfortable to the touch with use. As the colour and texture of high-quality linen can be enjoyed for a long time, it has become a standard gift item, with people naming it "the one to buy when you go to Merci in Paris," and has recently become popular among men as well.
