Patisserie SATSUKI at Hotel New Otani Tokyo and Hotel New Otani Osaka is offering the popular "Super Mont Blanc" (2,100 yen each), a fall tradition at the hotel, until January 31, 2017.
The "Super Mont Blanc" is popular for its ability to fully enjoy the flavor of carefully selected Japanese chestnuts. The key feature of this newly upgraded version is the trending "roasted almond milk," which is popular in Europe and the United States for its low fat content and rich vitamins and minerals. Roasted almond milk, characterized by its rich flavor yet refreshing and crisp taste, is used in the cream, kudzu, and base.
The base is made with an original dough called "Linzer Cereal Torte," inspired by the Austrian Linzer Torte, said to be the oldest torte in the world. In addition to roasted almond milk, the cake is made with specially selected brown rice eggs and a blend of cereals (including barnyard millet, foxtail millet, and red rice), and topped with wasanbon caramel for a moist flavor. Topped with koshian jelly, bean paste made with Okinawan brown sugar syrup, candied Japanese chestnuts, and rich almond cream, the cake is then encased in a chestnut paste made with the best seasonal chestnuts, mainly from Hyogo Prefecture. Finally, the topping is a chocolate sprinkled with gold leaf.
