Tokyu to open new commercial facility with a wide selection of food in Shibuya's Udagawacho district in late September

Sep 1, 2014

Tokyu Corporation will open a commercial facility with three restaurants, including new Chinese, Japanese, and Western cuisines, in late September in Udagawacho, Shibuya Ward, Tokyo (37-35 Udagawacho, Shibuya Ward, Tokyo).

To differentiate the facility from other facilities, the company engaged in extensive discussions with the restaurant chain operator, Kai Corporation, from the design stage onward to enhance business efficiency and spatial value. While taking into consideration safety and the surrounding environment, the rooftop space was effectively utilized, taking into account the requests of the restaurant owner. Skylights and plantings on the rooftop terrace create an open, stylish space with a sophisticated design.

The four-story facility will feature stores themed around "Shibuya for Adults." The first floor will feature Tiger Gyoza Kaikan, a Chinese cafe and restaurant incorporating Asian elements, while the second floor will feature Nihon Retto Sakaba Kamigoto, a new type of Japanese restaurant using ingredients from the Goto Islands in Nagasaki Prefecture, where Kai Corporation's resort hotel is located. On the third and fourth floors, DEMODE QUEEN, which was a popular restaurant in the area for 11 years before closing in 2012, will be reopened in a new look as an American diner specializing in steaks and designed in the style of a West Coast mansion.
