TETOKA, an art gallery and cafe in Kanda, Tokyo, will host Ichiro Higashiizumi's solo exhibition, "the show 5," from October 31st. The exhibition will feature imaginative sketches based on motifs such as landscapes, living things, cars, and architecture—things that have fascinated Higashiizumi since childhood—as well as research sketches based on his work's concept of "making something for the first time." The exhibition will also feature a doodle installation consisting of live sketches, in which Higashiizumi improvises the world before his eyes. Higashiizumi is a graphic designer who works in video, product design, and spatial design. He continues to create new systems and communications by moving between opposing yet fundamentally connected concepts such as science and art, research institutes and the street. As director of the "Sensorium project," which won a Golden Nica at Ars Electronica, he has produced experimental installations around the world. He has also worked on the "Internet Physics Model" at the Miraikan National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation and the production design for the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
An opening reception featuring Higashiizumi will be held on the first day, October 31st.
