Perhaps due to the sluggish luxury market and the increasing number of collection seasons, there has been a spate of news of designers resigning or suspending their brands at famous brands.
Massimo Giorgetti will step down as creative director of Emilio Pucci after the 2018 Resort collection. Since taking the position in April 2015, Massimo has designed five collections. From now on, he will focus on his own label, MSGM.
Meanwhile, Shayne Oliver has announced that he will be suspending his own label, HOOD BY AIR. The New York-based brand, which won a special prize in the LVMH New Designer Prize in 2014 and led the luxury street scene, will focus on a special project for Helmut Lang, which is scheduled to be released in September. Co-owner Leilah Weinraub will also be concentrating on video creative work from now on. She has already begun work on a film project as a video director titled "SHAKEDOWN.", which has been selected to be exhibited at the Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art in May. They are prioritizing their individual activities, and plan to resume brand activities in the near future.
