Emilio Pucci, whose creative director, Massimo Giorgetti of MSGM, was announced in April, unveiled its 2016 pre-collection during Pitti Uomo in Pucci's hometown of Florence. Titled "The Pilot Episode," this collection, unveiled ahead of the main collection due for release in September, references Pucci's archive prints, such as hand-drawn comic-style illustrations and the embroidered "Tourists in Florence," but also conveys a dynamic sense of the new Pucci. Archive Pucci prints have been transformed into digitized motifs, evolving into three-dimensional pieces such as tape-fringed dresses, yarn-fringed coats, and embossed enamel. The new logo also appears iconic on bags, shoes, and coats, hinting at a new market for Pucci. The products are scheduled to go on sale in December, but at Le Pagliere in Porta Romana, where the exhibition was announced, photography with SLR cameras was prohibited. Photography with smartphones was permitted, making the event a clear example of the changing role of fashion media, with information taking the lead from social media such as Instagram and Facebook.
