"Paul Smith Exhibition" finally tours three cities in Japan. The secrets of the world-famous designer Paul's inspiring creations

May 11, 2016

The "Paul Smith" exhibition, which delves into the secrets of Paul Smith's creations, will be held in Kyoto, Tokyo, and Nagoya from June to October.
This is a traveling exhibition of the "HELLO, MY NAME IS PAUL SMITH" exhibition, which opened at the Design Museum in London in November 2013. It explores Paul Smith from various angles, including not only his fashion but also his hobbies and the source of his ideas, and delves into the secrets of his creations.
The exhibition will feature recreations of Paul Smith's first store and office, the hotel bedroom where his first show took place, and his design studio. In addition, photographs taken for advertising campaigns will be showcased through magazines and panels. Approximately 2,800 items will be on display, including paintings and photographs from Paul Smith's collection, some hanging on the walls of his London office and others stored in the basement, as well as a video installation capturing the inner workings of his mind. The exhibition will feature items from the archive collection to the latest 16SS collection, as well as past collaborative works such as the Rover Mini.

The exhibition will be held at the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto in Kyoto from June 4th to July 18th, at the Ueno Royal Museum in Tokyo from July 27th to August 23rd, and at the Matsuzakaya Museum of Art in Nagoya from September 11th to October 16th.
