The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo is hosting Japan's first major retrospective of Oscar Niemeyer, the father of Brazilian modernist architecture. The exhibition, "Oscar Niemeyer: The Man Who Created Brazil's World Heritage Sites," runs until October 12th. The exhibition showcases Oscar Niemeyer's nearly century-long architectural career through blueprints, models, photographs, and video. A 1/30 scale model of one of his signature works, Ibirapuera Park, is also on display in the large, approximately 500-square-meter atrium. Also on display are video materials revealing Niemeyer's daily life and creative secrets, as well as detailed documentation of the construction of the capital, Brasilia. The venue was designed by SANAA, featuring dynamic, modern, and organic curves.
