Bottega Veneta launches new Instagram project at Hotel Okura Tokyo to raise interest in modernist architecture

Dec 15, 2014

Bottega Veneta has launched a new social media project, "#MyMomentAtOkura," in collaboration with Hotel Okura Tokyo, a masterpiece of Japanese modernist architecture facing reconstruction.

The project invites participants to widely share their time spent at Hotel Okura Tokyo in its current state through social media. Participation is simple: simply visit the main building of Hotel Okura Tokyo, take photos of your choice, and share them on your Instagram account with the hashtag "#MyMomentAtOkura." Photos taken during previous visits are also accepted.

Hotel Okura Tokyo, which opened in 1962, has been highly regarded as a representative example of Japanese modernist architecture. However, its cultural heritage is currently in jeopardy due to its planned reconstruction next year.

In line with its brand philosophy of passing on cultural heritage to the next generation and preserving the skills and creativity derived from tradition, Bottega Veneta has been working to raise awareness of Japanese modernist architecture, which is in danger of disappearing. Creative Director Tomas Maier is a long-time fan of Japanese modernist architecture and the Hotel Okura Tokyo, and through this project he hopes to call for a reconsideration of its cultural value.
