■ "LIGHT BREAK, PHOTOGRAPHY / LIGHT THERAPY"
Nicolai Howalt
This is a collection of works by Denmark-based photographer Nicolai Howalt, who explores light therapy invented by Niels Finsen, the first Danish scientist to win a Nobel Prize, visualizing invisible light in full-color photographs and compiling it into a single book.
Howalt has said, "Photographs give people the unconscious impression that they are a reproduction of what is reflected in their eyes, but this attempt is almost the opposite," and this book was born from experimental consideration of what would happen if "invisible light," which we normally don't think about, were made "visible light."
The publisher, FABRIK BOOKS, is an independent publishing house that Howalt himself founded to coincide with the publication of this book. This is the first collection of works published by the publisher.
