Pearly Fantasy, a one-week-only event showcasing TASAKI's latest 2013 collection for the first time in Japan, will be held at the Isetan Shinjuku store from January 23rd.
The theme of Thakoon Panichgul's new collection is "fantasy." The "treasure" series, which carries the meaning of "grab and never let go," features motifs of keys and baskets. The lineup includes fantastical designs such as a pendant with an Akoya pearl trapped in a basket (199,500 yen) and a ring with a mabe pearl surrounded by a basket lined with diamonds (882,000 yen). The exhibition will also feature the world's first exhibition and sale of representative works by Melanie Georgacopoulos, a young London-based designer who signed a new manufacturing and sales agreement with TASAKI last October. The "SLICED" series slices freshwater pearls into hemispherical shapes, expressing the mysterious properties inherent in the pearl itself. A necklace featuring sliced freshwater pearls (672,000 yen) and earrings (84,000 yen) in three colors, pink, white, and black, will be available. The "ARLEQUIN" ring (126,000 yen) combines a hemispherical black freshwater pearl with yellow gold. "TASAKI x MHT," a collaboration line with French designer Marie-Helene de Taillac, offers cord bracelets featuring Akoya pearls adorned with colored stones and charms. The "Moon & Heart Drop Bracelet" (45,150 yen each) and "Envy Star Bracelet" (24,150 yen), which use tsavorite and red spinel, will be available for pre-sale at this event.
