"Hayashi Seiichi Bijingashu," a collection of "beauty paintings" by leading contemporary bijinga artist Hayashi Seiichi, known for his artwork for the candy "Koume" and the manga "Red Elegy," has been released.
Hayashi Seiichi, who turned 70 this year, is known for his lyrical works depicting the melancholic profiles of beautiful women, and his popularity has earned him a passionate following overseas. In 2014, he held the "Traditional Modern Japanese Art: Hayashi Seiichi Bijinga Exhibition" in Cuba and Mexico, which was featured on the NHK television program "Shiten/Routen."
This collection includes artwork for "Koume," as well as a carefully selected collection of bijinga from Hayashi Seiichi's early works to the present, ranging from innocent girls, alluring beauties, beauties in kimono, young ladies in Western clothing, town girls in the style of ukiyo-e, to modern women.
The "phantom work" "Lili Marleen" is also included in the reprint, and the collection includes a variety of other works, including elegant Japanese paintings, illustrations such as book illustrations and cover art, theater poster art, and record jackets.
