"Isetan Manga" by Hanakuma Yusaku, Kyo Machiko, and Shinsan Naeko is complete!

Aug 13, 2015

Isetan Shinjuku will be hosting the "Isetan Art & Creation Festa 2015 - Art is the Future" campaign, showcasing everything from fine art to design, from August 12th to 24th. (Some sales areas will be open from August 19th to 24th.)

As part of the campaign, the store will focus on manga, a form of Japanese art. It commissioned three manga artists, Hanakuma Yusaku, Kyo Machiko, and Shinsan Nameko, to create original manga.

Hanakuma Yusaku has created an eight-panel manga on the theme of "The Man Who Was Missing." Enjoy the unique storyline. Kyo Machiko's manga, based on the theme of "heartbeat," subtly introduces items from the accessory brand Quguri and the hat boutique Arth, creating a striking, lyrical style. The "Kuguri" necklace (25,000 yen) and corsage (15,000 yen) featured in the work are actually on sale at East Park on the fourth floor of the main building, and the "Earth" hat (22,000 yen) is available in the women's goods section on the first floor.

Under the theme of "Dream Pumps," Shinsan Naeko has created a comical manga featuring pumps from shoe brand Chakechoke (22.0cm to 25.0cm, 20,800 yen) and the Yvonne Cup (approximately 8cm diameter x 8cm height, 8,000 yen) created by ceramic artist Yamada Hiroyuki. The pumps can be purchased in the women's shoes section on the second floor of the store, and the cups can be purchased at Center Park/The Stage #5 on the fifth floor. The entire manga is available to view on Isetan's website, "Isetan Art & Creation Festa 2015" (see "LINK" below for the URL). Additionally, in Center Park on the 6th floor of the main building, in conjunction with the "To the Children of Japan" project celebrating the 40th anniversary of the children's fashion magazine "sesame," Hoshino Resorts Kai and Isetan are offering crafts and cultural experiences from all over Japan, all with the aim of promoting Japanese art. These include a parquet toolbox (5,621 yen including tax) and Enshu Tsumugi geta sandals (8,000 yen). Also, starting August 19th, bags created in collaboration with domestic and international designers and artists will be available at The Stage #1 on the 1st floor of the main building to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Yoshida & Co., Ltd. The collection will include a 3-way briefcase by PORTER and Paul Smith (61,500 yen including tax), and a backpack by Porter and Stone Island (69,500 yen including tax).

In addition, from the same day, the 19th, CONVERSE TOKYO will be showcasing fashion that can only be expressed in Tokyo at Center Park/The Stage #2 on the second floor of the main building of the store. Items on sale include a denim jacket (28,000 yen), denim pants (34,000 yen), and All Star embroidered OX sneakers (16,500 yen).
