The Gelato World Tour Tokyo, an East Asian competition for the Italian gelato competition, will be held from September 4th to 6th at the Central Plaza of Komazawa Olympic Park in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo.

The Gelato World Tour, sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is an international traveling competition aimed at spreading Italian-style gelato culture around the world. It has been held in eight cities around the world: Rome, Valencia, Melbourne, Dubai, Austin, Berlin, Rimini, and Singapore.
For the 2015-2017 season, it has been decided that the East Asian competition will be held in Japan for the first time. In addition to the recent Singapore event, the East and West Coasts of the United States will also be included.

The East Asian competition will open an open call for entries from gelatieers in Japan and East Asian countries, with judges selected in July. This event, held at the Central Plaza of Komazawa Olympic Park, will determine the Grand Prix winner and the East Asian representative for the Grand Final, which will be held in Rimini, Italy in 2017. The top three contestants from the Tokyo tournament are scheduled to compete.

In addition, the venue will offer gelato handmade by artisans selected as one of the top 16 in East Asia, and workshops will also be held. There will be a fee for gelato, but if you register in advance, you will be given a tasting ticket that allows you to enjoy up to six flavors for free.

In addition, to coincide with the Milan Expo, an international exposition themed on food culture that runs until October, the "ITALIAN collection" will be held at the same time, allowing visitors to experience Italian food and travel culture.
